What is your name?
Kristin, (but I only hear name that when I'm in trouble). K or rukristin (pronounced r-u-kristin) are the names most of my crafty friends use :)
What got you into scrapbooking?
As a sophomore in high school (circa 2003) a friend and I had to work on a joint class project. We went to the local craft store for supplies and picked up some scrapbook supplies while we were there, and I've continued to scrap ever since.
What do you love about scrapbooking?
I love that its whatever I want it to be. They're my memories, and I can choose to document them however I like. I can use lots of fun crafty products or just a pen and paper. I get to tell my stories the way I want them to be heard. It's also so in the moment. I can look back at previous mini-albums, layouts and designs and enjoy not just the content and memories, but the design and style I was into at the time. I also love the community that scrapbooking attracts - strong, intelligent women (and a few men) who are not afraid to proudly show off who they are, what they love and more.
What do you dislike about scrapbooking?
I over-think it too much. The problem with over-thinking is that then I procrastinate forever because I think I'm going to mess up and its not going to turn out the way I want. My goal for this year has been to 'just do it' and learn what I like and what I don't like as I go, instead of trying to figure out the entire project up front.
What is your favorite scrapbook embellishment?
Washi Tape. I like scrapbook products that I can cross over into other crafts, especially mini-albums. If you were to see my apartment, you would find washi tape everywhere, used in creative home office decor, organization and more.
